The lakes of El Cotillo: In the lagoons of El Cotillo you will find these beautiful golden sand beaches located in a natural environment. Enjoy its crystal clear waters and relax in a quiet and virgin environment.

 

The Lakes of El Cotillo form a set of small crescent-shaped beaches, among which are the magnificent beaches of La Concha, El Águila or La Mujer. Its sand is very fine white jable that does not burn our feet when we walk on it. They are located on the right side of El Cotillo and are completely different from the beaches on the left side of the town.

 

The Lakes are peaceful centers of relaxation in which the sun, sand and sea are harmoniously combined. Its morphological characteristics, with shapes that resemble small bays, protect bathers from the marine currents of the north coast. The water level does not exceed the height of the people with the high tide, so you can bathe safely. Thanks to the intense white color of the sand in this part of the El Cotillo coast, its waters bathe them with a beautiful turquoise and bluish-green color that takes us with our imagination to the most paradisiacal places on the planet.

 

The sunset on this side of the island is spectacular, so book a table on the terrace of the Azzurro Restaurant, which is 150 meters from La Concha beach, and enjoy the sunset while tasting its dishes and desserts ( especially the tiramisu).

 

Calderón Hondo: Embark on a hike to the edge of this impressive volcanic crater. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and learn about the geology of the island.

 

Located to the north of the island, in a lonely place in the municipality of La Oliva, the volcano known as Calderón Hondo rises up on the horizon. It does not do it alone, since many other volcanic cones appear around it that together make up the so-called Bayuyo alignment. Emerging simultaneously around 50,000 years ago, the lavas from these volcanoes were responsible for the increase in the surface of Fuerteventura to the north and, consequently, for its approach to the neighboring island of Lanzarote.

 

Connected to numerous trails and endowed with a moderate relief, access to Calderón Hondo is really easy, and its ascent route is one of the easiest on the entire island.
