CORRALEJO CARNIVAL

The Corralejo Carnival is a major annual event in Corralejo, celebrated for about two weeks, typically from late February to early March. In 2024, it will run from March 2 to 17. Key features include:

  • Gala Events: Highlights include the Queen Gala, Drag Queen Gala, and Children's Queen Gala, featuring performances and contestsā€‹ (GuideToCanaryIslands)ā€‹.

  • Parades: Colorful parades with elaborate costumes, floats, and live music are a central attraction.

  • Burial of the Sardine: The festival ends with this traditional event, symbolizing the close of carnival celebrations, marked by a parade and the burning of a sardine effigyā€‹

CORRALEJO KITE FESTIVAL

The International Kite Festival in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, is a prominent annual event that will take place from November 11 to 17 in 2024. Held in the stunning dunes of the Corralejo Natural Park, the festival offers a breathtaking natural backdrop for the vibrant and colorful kite displays. It attracts kite enthusiasts from around the world, including both professionals and amateurs, who showcase their unique and creative kite designs.

The festival began in 1987 and has grown in popularity each year, becoming a celebration of creativity and skill in kite flying. Alongside the kite displays, the festival features various side events, such as musical performances and activities for all ages, creating a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.

The sight of numerous kites of different shapes, sizes, and colors soaring in the sky against the beautiful landscape is a visual treat for visitors and participants alike. The event is highly anticipated by locals and tourists, making it a must-see attraction in Fuerteventuraā€‹

INTERNATIONAL BLUES AND JASS FESTIVAL

Typically held in late October, this festival brings together blues and jazz musicians for a weekend of live performances. This annual event has gained prominence on the festival calendar and features local and international talent. It is worth highlighting the commitment to local groups that appear at the event, followed by guest artists on the following nights. If you are in Fuerteventura during the month of October, this event has to be on your list of activities.

CARMEN FESTIVALS

The Feast of Carmen is a significant celebration honoring the Virgin of Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen. During these festivities, there are maritime processions where the image of the Virgin is carried by boat accompanied by a fleet of local vessels. Additionally, religious ceremonies, concerts, sports activities such as regattas, and impressive fireworks displays are held. These festivities hold not only religious importance but also provide an opportunity to enjoy the culture and traditions of Corralejo and the entire island of Fuerteventura.

HOLI FESTIVAL

The Holi Festival in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, is a vibrant celebration inspired by the traditional Hindu festival of colors. Participants gather to throw colored powders and water at each other, symbolizing the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. It's a joyful event where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to dance, enjoy music, and create a colorful spectacle. The festival typically includes live performances, DJs, and food stalls, making it a lively and memorable experience for locals and visitors alike.

SAN JUAN FESTIVAL

The San Juan Festival in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, is a lively celebration held around June 23rd, which is the feast day of Saint John the Baptist. This festival traditionally includes bonfires on the beach, where people gather to burn effigies, leap over the fires for good luck, and celebrate the summer solstice. It's a time for music, dancing, fireworks, and enjoying local cuisine, marking the beginning of summer with a festive atmosphere that attracts both locals and tourists alike.
